ARTIFACT DONATION
INTERESTED IN DONATING AN ARTIFACT?
Goshen Historical Museum is interested in donations that help tell stories of people, places and events in Goshen. Our collection spans a vast range of time periods and topics from a local perspective. Items donated to the museum that are not on display are properly placed in acid-free boxes & files for storing. To fulfill our responsibility, we have four criteria for accepting items in to the museum:
- Item is relevant to the history and culture of Goshen and surrounding rural areas.
- Items must be documented as to provenance.
- Items are accepted only if the Museum can provide for the storage and protection of the items consignee with preservation standards and the cost of the care does not outweigh the value of the item.
- Items are accepted only if they are free from restrictions such as an indefinite loan or limitations to use or future disposition.
- Please submit the form below with description of item you would like to donate. You can also bring your potential donation to the museum during open hours or by appointment. The Accession Committee will assess whether your object is a good fit and will get back to you. Please allow a couple weeks for processing. Feel free to add stories connected to your donations as those help us create our exhibits.
- Do you have interesting photographs or letters that you're not quite ready to part with? Consider making a digital donation. The museum will make high resolution scans of the originals and return the physical document to you.
- Please note that transportation of donated artifacts to the museum is the responsibility of the donor. The museum is not able to pick up donations.
